Puppies must be picked up at Deep Run Farm in Goldvein Virginia. Airline shipping for puppies continues to provide challenges, so for the safety of your new puppy please plan to come to pick him or her up in person. Our Labrador puppies are bred to give you the best possible Labrador pup that money can buy. If you want a hunt or field test dog, hunter/companion dog, obedience, agility, search and rescue dog, that can be your special friend and companion, a Deep Run puppy will be just right for you.

Our puppies are bred to provide you with a pup free of genetic defects, pleasing in appearance, and intelligent with a good attitude for learning. To the best of our knowledge, our breeding stock is free of common hereditary defects such as hip and elbow dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, central retinal atrophy, cataracts, and thyroid disease as well as Exercise Induced Collapse, Centronuclear Myopathy, Retinal Dysplasia and Oculoskeletal Dysplasia.

When genetic tests are available for hereditary diseases, we usually have our dogs tested by an approved laboratory.

DDC Veterinary: DNA Services for Animals- Offers DNA tests for canine and equine species. Services include parentage, DNA genotyping, DNA banking, disease screening, and coat color prediction.

We now know that some of these diseases, previously perceived as hereditary, are influenced more by rearing, feeding, and neutering programs (See article Study Shines Spotlight On Neutering) than previously thought. Also a Great Health Article. We use the most current guidelines for nutrition and environment to give our pups the best possible start. We provide you with essential information on nutrition, body scoring and health care so you can take over when you get your puppy to provide an optimum environment.

We have been breeding Labradors for twenty years at this location, over 40 years in all and have faith in our breeding program, because it is backed by experience, education, and application.

  • All breeding stock have OFA certified hips (excellent or good) and OFA certified elbows. A Veterinary Ophthalmologist certifies eyes free of hereditary disease. See our FAQs for information about OFA, CERF and PennHIP.
  • Sires are always titled dogs with top quality pedigrees.
  • Dams are working retrievers, titled, or in training for a title.

• About the puppies
  • Puppies are born and raised in our home and are well socialized from day one.
  • Dewclaws are removed & pups are wormed and vaccinated.
  • To activate your puppy's microchip, go to activate the chip
  • Puppies are introduced to crate training, collar, leash, and basic obedience. We also introduce them to pigeons and water (weather permitting) before they leave.
  • Puppies have 24-hour canine medical attention from Phyllis, the resident veterinarian.

  • Most puppies are sold before they are old enough to leave, so we recommend a deposit as soon as you decide on a litter. If you come to pick up your pup and don't find him or her suitable, your deposit will be immediately refunded or transferred to another litter.
    
    
  • We feel we cannot safely ship puppies unaccompanied in the current climate of the pandemic. If you are willing to fly in to pick up your puppy and use a carry on pet carrier to return home with your puppy, that will work.
    In general, however, we prefer for you to pick up your puppy.

    A crate trained puppy is calm and comfortable in his own crate. Consider it a haven, not a jail.

He has several conformation wins at AKC shows, but the interruption in shows caused by the pandemic ended his show career. He enjoyed being home so much I simply decided he should stay here at Deep Run. His superior good looks, good health, and happy personality make him a joy to have at the kennel. She is a delightful dog, lovely in expression and conformation. She has a sweet and biddable disposition. She loves the water and loves to retrieve. She should be finishing up her Junior Hunter Title this fall and winter. She is OFA Hips Good, Elbows, Patellas, Heart Normal. Reacher is an amazing young dog, with a fabulous pedigree. He was born and raised here at Deep Run Farm. His sire, NFC FC AFC I'm Ur Search Engine (Google) is a fabulous dog with at least 60 All Age points, His mother, FC AFC Coal Delivery's Black Betty is a wonderful dog in her own right, with over 50 All Age Points. Reacher won his first Trial, a Derby to start his career. He is a friendly and biddable black dog (carries yellow) with good manners, both in the house and in the field. He is an excellent marker, and runs great blinds. He enjoys Hunt Tests as well as Field Trials. Reacher has all health clearances, OFA Excellent Hips, OFA Elbows, OFA Cardiac Advanced, CAER and PRA Clear Eyes, and is EIC, CNM and Dilute Clear. CHIC 177284 See Reacher's OFA files.

Billy is a striking pale yellow dog with a regal demeanor and a playful personality. He is a wonderful guy who is happy to go along with the program of the day whether it be a day in the field retrieving birds or getting gussied up for a Dog Show. Peggy Sue is a yellow labrador female, a combination of two of our finest dogs here at Deep Run Farm. Her sire, Bogie (Deep Run Sam Spade, JH), is himself a proven producer of exceptional family dogs, hunters, and performance dogs, and son of GCH CH UGCH UCH Poplar Forest Play It Again Sam, UD, RE MH, MHU, among the most titled of all Labrador Retrievers in history. Her Dam, Deep Run Maybelline, is from a litter of 4 Master Hunters and a daughter of GMHRCH Silverbrook Return To Sender, MH, SRS, Bronze Medalist. Peggy Sue, herself, is a 50 pound bundle of affection and enthusiasm. She is an outgoing and friendly dog, happy to meet everyone and happy to do what anyone asks. She is cooperative and very trainable, and excellent marker and enthusiastic water dog. She has all the required health clearances: OFA hips good (prelim), OFA elbows normal(prelim), EIC, CNM clear, patellas normal, cardiac clear, D locus clear, CAER normal. Her permanent clearances will be completed in June.

2 yellow boys are available. 3 yellow girls and 3 yellow boys were born 3/23/24. I am looking forward to this breeding to exhibit all the great characteristics of Deep Run Farm Dogs...Fabulous temperament, excellent health, great trainability, and pleasing appearance. All DEEP RUN puppies are born in the house, have dewclaws removed, are wormed and vaccinated with the best biologicals available.
